Pop Culture Discussion: The Ultimate Questions
Origins:
Where did everything come from?
discussion: evolution= goo, random matter.
scientology= aliens.
mormanism= novel turned gospel by jo smith.
self creation= we are our own creators "you make your own destiny" "self-empowerment"
summary: "tolerance" America is blessed with this. Fault: it has allowed the truth to be destroyed. the world's view on origins is ruined.
Meaning:
Why are we here? Is there a purpose?
discussion: oceans 11,12,13= the meaning of life is to get as much money as you can.
football stars, movie stars= do what it takes to make you happy. be rich.
video games= escape reality or make your own. "As long as it doesn't hurt anyone els it's okay."
Simpsons (and other tv shows)= men are stupid, not the head of the home, not needed as leaders, protectors or providers.
Morality:
How are we supposed to live?
What's right or wrong?
Who decides?
Where does morality come from?
discussion: 24 (t.v.show)= live patriotically,protecting the country. terrorism is wrong; Jack Bauer is right. Jack Bauer decides.
my name is earl (t.v. show)= be nice to everyone, be okay with everyone else's morality as long as it's not hurting anyone. be good and good things will happen to you. karma decides.
stargate= make yourself the best that you can be. self enlightenment. right and wrong are relative. free will is supreme. the individual decides.
Al Gore= Save our selves. independance. control over our own destiny. the goal of mankind is the greater good. Mankind and Secular Science decides.

What happens after death?
Manga comics= Good people go to a good place, reunited with friends and family. Bad people go to a bad place or are completely obliterated, unless they were good at first and then maybe they'll be freed from thier bad ways and be reunited with friends and family in a good place. "they've gone to a better place"
Now that we've discussed what Pop Culture says about these "Ultimate Questions" let's research what God has to say about these things. Test Everything by the word of God!
Hbr 13:9 Do not be carried away by varied and strange teachings
Gal 1:6-9 I am amazed that you are so quickly deserting Him who called you by the grace of Christ, for a different gospel; which is {really} not another; only there are some who are disturbing you and want to distort the gospel of Christ.
